The country’s digital ecosystem has become a critical enabler of economic
development. Digital technologies are enabling inclusive economic participation
and global economic competition. Failure to build secure, resilient and reliable
digital services could result in large-scale outages and threaten South Africa’s
social, economic and development goals. The increasingly foundational role
of digital transformation means that the benefits of becoming a fully digitally
enabled society and economy outweighs the costs.
